Because it is engineered primarily for high-activity pet zones, daycares, and public grounds, skipping proper base stabilization or odor mitigation during setup will compromise the turf system. Remove existing natural sod and soil to a uniform depth of 3 to 4 inches across the entire designated field footprint. Cover the exposed subgrade with a premium woven geotextile filter fabric. This stops the subgrade dirt from mixing upward into your clean stone. Never place a standard plastic weed barrier directly beneath the turf backing in pet zones. It traps animal urine, resulting in severe, unfixable odor buildup.
