Excavate the native soil 3 to 4 inches. Backfill with a compacted layer of crushed stone (such as Class II road base or decomposed granite). This stone matrix must be mechanically vibrated and screeded to a smooth finish to prevent colored lines from buckling or dipping. For playground environments, specialized foam shock-absorption pads (such as 1-inch or 2-inch closed-cell foam) are rolled out directly over the stone base. This step provides the required IPEMA-certified fall safety protection.

STI guarantees 100% protection against all manufacturing defects in materials and structural workmanship for the first full year following delivery. After year one, coverage scales down progressively until year eight. It guarantees the colored polyethylene yarn will not experience ozone or UV fading degradation or lose more than 50 percent of its tensile strength. The pile height is also guaranteed not to decrease by more than 50 percent from regular foot traffic, provided that appropriate silica sand ballast infill thresholds are continuously maintained across the EZ Play Colors layout. The warranty applies to the ultimate consumer/owner. It is critical to register the installation directly through an authorized dealer via the STI Warranty Registration Portal.
