Depending on ambient wind, humidity, and solar heat, the turf will dry unevenly. Crews must trigger a secondary 5-to-10-minute automated flash-watering cycle at half-time (and between quarters) to reset the surface speed. Unlike traditional football or soccer turf fields that feature a subtle center ridge (crown) for shedding heavy rain sideways, SporTurf Wet Hockey fields must be laser-installed completely flat. This design constraint prevents water from pooling at the boundary lines and guarantees a uniform ball glide from sideline to sideline.
